Catholic Carnival 199: Life. And how to Live it.
Catholic Carnival 199: Life. And how to Live it.
It seems that most of the posts this week dealt with life issues. Either a pro-life position or an interesting take on living life itself. So this seems to be the "Life" Carnival - and not a second too early! Hope you enjoy:
Kicking Over My Traces kicks us off with South Carolina Priest Called On the Carpet for Chastising Obama Voter. It examines a recent controversy around Father Jay Scott Newman's statement that Obama voters should repent. Interesting point about why he was "repudiated."
Another Carnival called Mary Moments is posted at Behold Your Mother. And this week they present posts about The Saints and Mary. It's a good collection of posts on Our Lady.
CatholicLand! continues our Carnival with What Dreams May Come. The post pulls the best paragraphs from the conversion story of Serbia notorious abortionist. If you haven't read this, read it. It is a powerful account.
And the Carnival is glad to announce a new blog, In the Sight of Angels. It will take you through the liturgical year and highlight the various feasts giving the Collect in both Latin and English. Regular posts start Advent Sunday.
A Catholic Life points out that this Friday is the celebration of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Post includes some great historical information and the Collect.
Next, The Apostolate of the Laity brings up The "E" Word. 54% of Catholics voted for Obama. What does that mean? It means we need more of the E Word.
Prepare for Mass gets us ready for The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King. It is the last Sunday of Ordinary Time; this post includes some great video as well.
Mothers of Many Saints challenges you in Being Pro-Life Outside of the Ballot Box. Besides voting pro-life, how else do you live your pro-life beliefs? Evangelization is what we really need to end abortion and this post explains why.
Have a question? Aggie Catholics will answer it. And this week's question concerns the Resurrection of the Body/The Incarnation/Human Beings. It explores what really happens to us after our death.
A Catholic View is amused because Kmiec says he will change his pro-Obama position if the Pope tells him to do so. Kmiec is a Catholic who is prominently supporting president-elect Obama. This post points out that the Pope has already been clear.
Long-Skirts Poetry adds a poem to the Carnival with Heaven. C.S. Lewis once described fish as comfortable in their environment while humans are either waiting for time to pass or wondering how it went by so fast. Why is this? We weren't made for this world.
Confessions of a Hot Carmel Sundae explains Why I Am Pro-Life by debunking the stereotypical explanations for a pro-life worldview. Good post on being a true pro-lifer.
And on to Book Reviews and More who offers a book review of Signs and Mysteries: Revealing Ancient Christian Symbols by Mike Aquilina & Lea Marie Ravotti. It's a detailed review of the book that includes the chapters included.
Catholic New Media Roundup asks you to Help Us Present a Catholic New Media Advent Calendar. They are hoping to create a calendar that can be hosted on blogs throughout the internet. It's a great concept, so contribute if you can!
Homeschool Goodies quiets us for a second with Pause in reverent silence. It's a wonderful post about St. Joseph and his unique disposition.
Catholic Fire adds another book review: Hear my Voice. The book is a children's translation of Gospel readings for the Catholic Mass. Might be a good Christmas gift!
HMS Blog brings another great post called Living in the Light. The post focuses on the call for us to live as if Jesus' return was imminent. Can you answer the call?
The Catholic Journeyman explains how Mother Angelica Rocks Marian Apologetics. It transcribes a conversation between Marcus Grodi and Mother Angelica on the Scriptural basis of Marian dogmas. She is quite brilliant.
St. Peter Canisius Apostolate brings us The Liturgy of the Hours. It is a collection of posts explaining what the Divine Office is and how to pray it using the "Shorter Christian Prayer."
And we add the last post of this Carnival: Catholic Bishops Vow to Fight Obama on Abortion. It's nice to see the bishops come together on life.
Hope you enjoyed it!
God bless,
Jay
