Catholic Carnival: Improving with Age
This is, IMHO, the best Catholic Carnival I’ve worked on. From the deeply personal to the complete works of Saint Gaspar, it contains an amazing array of topics. I took them in the order I received the submissions. Enjoy:
Beyond the Beltway starts us off with a book review of . It’s a quick overview of the book that touches on our debt to the Church.
Hollywood Catholics at Kicking Over My Traces explores an episode of a popular TV crime series that shows a superficial understanding of Catholic theology.
Logical Inconsistency of the Protestant View from Blog from the Core is the fifth of nine lectures by Cardinal Newman in the summer of 1851. You can see the introductory material here.
Musings from a Catholic Bookstore lightens your day a little bit with New Payment Method Accepted. Is PaPal for you?
But we get back on a personal level with Dropping Some Weight at A Song Not Scored for Breathing. The Holy Spirit uses the words of an unbeliever to challenge and heal some deep wounds in Hope's life.
Alabama Improper brings us Father Tad Goes to Virginia. She points to an article that explores whether or not the Church’s stance on embryonic stem cell research imposes our beliefs on others.
With What Bread Does Jesus Feed Us? at HMS Blog reflects on the Mass readings for Sunday 7/30 with a focus on the meaning of Jesus’ feeding of the multitude.
HerbEly is celebrating his Fortieth Wedding Anniversary and gives us his thoughts on this achievement. Congratulations, Herb!
TomReagan gives us Part III of a series on the Rosary with Maturing in a View of Jesus, a View of Mary, and a View of Ourselves Through the Rosary.
The Gospel of Life at Rambling GOP Soccer Mom points to a moving video about a father and son team that compete in marathons and triathlons together. Warning: you might need some tissues. Also, Christine’s mother’s cousin passed away and she asks for our prayers.
Rifugio San Gaspare offers us all 3,959 Letters of St. Gaspar. This is a great collection. For those not aware, Saint Gaspar has a wonderful message of devotion and is instrumental in giving the world the Devotion to the Most Precious Blood, a Devotion lived which brings such solidarity and Hope. You can read more on St. Gaspar in this online book.
A Penitent Blogger offers another excellent reflection in Uncomfortably Close. This post is focused on the challenges of intimacy with God.
Deo Omnis Gloria takes us back to apologetics with Why Can’t We Confess Our Sins Directly to Jesus? This post is an exploration of the Sacrament of Confession and what it does for us.
And we finish with one more book review from this site: The Philosophy of Tolkien: The Worldview Behind The Lord of the Rings. If you haven’t read a book about J.R.R. Tolkien and his famous series, this is the one to read.
Thanks for taking the time to read the Carnival and God bless. For more on participating, please see our Catholic Carnival page.
God bless,
Jay

Jay,
I'm laughing a bit and not upset...sorry for the inconvenience...but, the link is still wrong. The one with my name currently links to rosary.tomreagan.com which is okay (though simply http://tomreagan.com might be better).
The problem is the second part of the sentence...that is the part that should linke to http://rosary.tomreagan.com...that's the broken link...thanks!
I owe you one for all of this...
Thanks and sincerely,
Tom
