Catholic Carnival: The Feast of St. Joseph the Worker

Since yesterday was the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, I used that as a loose theme for the Carnival (we also had several St. Joseph posts). Hope you enjoy:

St. Joseph the Worker
St. Joseph was a Dada Man at View from the Choir points out that in the eyes of the world, St. Joseph must have seemed a foolish man, a cuckold with no pride. But he embraced what the world would consider absurd, and proved himself a saint.

Reflections on the Silence and Strength of St. Joseph at Castle of the Immaculate reflects on the silence and strength of St. Joseph.

Prayers to St. Joseph the Worker at Living Catholicism offers some prayers to St. Joseph.

Our Work in the World
Dr. Scott Hahn on Keeping the Lord’s Day Holy at Universal Call is actually a podcast interview with Dr. Scott Hahn about the importance of keeping the Lord’s Day Holy.

Into the Light at Perfect Work explores how we must work to overcome our tendency toward darkness – and move into the light.

Look like an Angel at A Penitent Blogger reflects on the work involved in developing a Christian appearance.

GIA and Oregon Catholic Press - Treasurehouses of Catholic Musical Heritage at Musings from a Catholic Bookstore posts from work about the lack of traditional Catholic music available from the major "Catholic" publishers.

Duke Lacrosse: NCAA Strains Out Gnats and Swallows Camels at HerbEly explores the moral implications of the NCAA’s decisions.

St. Joseph’s Friends
For the Feast of St. Mark at Pondering the Word offers an interesting reflection on the meaning in our modern day of the readings for the Feast of St. Mark.

Our Lady of Medjugorje at A Catholic Life explores the apparition of Mary at Medjugorje as well as the miracles still occurring there.

St. Catherine of Siena at Refugio San Gaspare gives us an excellent homily on St. Catherine of Siena, which points out her devotion to the Blood of Christ.

My Life, Chapter 36: Wherein God Hits Me with the Usual 2x4 at Ramblings of a GOP Soccer Mom reaches a conclusion about life (and parenting) during her daughter’s first communion. (We’re all St. Joseph’s Friends ;-) ).

Martha, Mary, Mary, Martha, Martha, Mary at My Domestic Church is a great post on Jesus’ response to Martha in Luke 10.

St. Peter, the Government, and Social Justice at Part-Time Pundit explores the question of how to reconcile disagreements with government policy with St. Peter's teaching on obedience to the government.

St. Joseph’s Stepson – and his God
An Advocate at HMS Blog offers us a reflection on the readings for the Third Sunday of Easter, focusing on how we come to know Christ and have him as the Advocate for our salvation.

God bless,
Jay
