Catholic Carnival: Moving toward God
Many of the Carnival posts this week explore our Lenten journey toward God, so I thought it was an appropriate theme. Hope you enjoy as much as I did:
To Jesus through Mary starts us out strong with Gospa Influenced My Vocation. It is the first in a series explaining his acceptance of a vocation to be a Catholic priest.
The Joy of Eucharistic Miracles at A Catholic Life continues our Lenten journey with a hopeful post on the power of Eucharistic miracles.
Taking it to a more personal level, HMS Blog offers us That the World Might be Saved, a reflection on the readings for the 4th Sunday of Lent, focusing on the meaning and importance of God’s love.
Constructivist Education at Deep Furrows takes another critical look at Constructivism, which is pervasive in our society’s religious understanding. He also works in Walker Percy, which earns him extra credit.
SFO Mom gives us Church - - Not Just for Sundays gives us a nostalgia piece that reminds us of the value of just visiting your parish.
Heart – or Head? Veritas before Caritas at Diary of a City Parishoner explores how the location of the altar in a church illuminates our theology. Very interesting.
St. Ignatius writes in the Spiritual Exercises that many people miss doing the "one thing necessary" to move into a deeper relationship with Jesus. The Headlights at CowPi Journal is a mystical short story about finding one thing, answering God's call to trust Him completely.
A Song Not Scored for Breathing offers another captivating post with (Not) Wasting the Pain. Being willing to sit in the pain instead of continuing to numb it, is the challenge Hope faces as she deals with life's circumstances.
On the Other Foot explores masculinity in a captivating post: Found Out a Man Ain’t Just Being Macho. What does a man do? Go check it out.
Confession: Good for the Soul at On Pilgrimage discusses the Church's rejoicing on Laetare Sunday and its connection to the sacrament of reconciliation.
Taking this week’s Carnival to the next level, American Papist gives us the Consistory 2006 Summary. The post provides links to the full overview of this year’s Consistory of Cardinals. My favorite? This image ;-).
Perfect Work provides us with a beautiful journey into the pain and suffering associated with losing a child in Pleasure in Pain. Even for those who haven’t experienced this, the post is well worth your time.
The Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord at Quenta Nârwenion offers information on the Solemnity and on some saints who share the feast date, as well as quotes from St. Philip Neri, Venerable John Henry Newman, C.O., and J.R.R. Tolkien.
Staying on our Lenten path, A Penitent Blogger posts Believing All the Way, which is a reflection on faith and perseverance even in our most desperate times.
Just Say Yes at Our Word and Welcome To It points out that we often hear about how important it is to "just say no," but the life of Mary reminds us that it can be just as important to say "yes" - when it's "yes" to God.
Crusader of Justice examines the quirks of Laetare Sunday in On Laetare Sunday . . . He also comments on the Gospel reading this year.
Clean Shopping, Clean Conscience at Deo Omnis Gloria explores our responsibilities to shop at places that don’t support abortion or homosexuality as well as places that do support life or Catholic social doctrine.
Our blog offers The Da Vinci Code: Preparing for the Confusion, which is a post of resources in preparation for the movie The Da Vinci Code and its flaws.
God bless,
Jay
