Happy Holidays, Holiday Trees....What?!
In an overly sensitive society that strives to be ever more inclusive we continue to witness the destruction of all Christian identity. Christians become paranoid about wishing others a Merry Christmas because, God forbid, it might force us to evangelize and share the Good News with a non-believer. We also see the strange phenomenon of different public/government agencies beginning to call Christmas trees the new buzz phrase Holiday trees, showing that the history of a tradition is meaningless and that the government has the right and the obligation to change it if it might possibly offend a single person.
All of this manfests one thing...that Christians are losing their first love. We would not be so tolerant of this secularization of a "traditionally" Christocentric season if the spell of the consumeristic/materialistic/inclusivistic "holiday" god hadn't turn our attention away from the best part of the entire season. The Word became Flesh...and dwells among us!
When someone says that we should be considerate of our non-believing neighbors look them died in the eye and say "Your right! We should be more considerate...let have them over for tea and cookies and share with them the beauty of what we know to be true, that Christ came and died for us and that the gates of heaven have been opened to all who will come to Him in faith." For if we truly had any "consideration" for our neighbor we would be shouting the Christmas message from the rooftops, the subways, the condos, etc. Jesus is the Good News!
Tolerance is not charitable if it compromises the Truth.
On that note, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. May the Christ Child fill your hearts with His love and grace. May He grant each of you the peace that He alone can give.
In Christ,
Joe
