Catholic Carnival XXV: Our Holy Father

We are now in the traditional grieving phase in which we pray for the soul of Pope John Paul II. As expected, this Catholic Carnival is heavily focused on Pope John Paul II and on the upcoming conclave. So, rather than try and organize these, I’ve simply listed them in the order they were submitted. Enjoy and reminisce:

+ The Paragraph Farmer starts us out with Franklin Delano Wojtyla? This post explains why it’s unwise to think of the upcoming Conclave in political terms. He includes an interesting parallel with our former president.

+ The Blog from the Core in traditional “Catholic Carnival” fashion gives us a roundup of thoughts and meditations on Pope John Paul the Great in Blogworthies LXI. There are some great points in this collection.

+ HMS Blog comments on the mass readings for the third Sunday of Easter in You Have Made Known To Me The Paths Of Life. It focuses on the Eucharist and how we can know God.

+ Quenta Nârwenion informs us of the music at the noon Mass at Heinz Memorial Chapel including the lyrics of the Offeratory in Music at Noon Mass. The Offeratory in particular is very beautiful.

+ Ales Rarus examines The Church in the Modern World. He takes five controversial issues that we’re hearing a lot about these days and offers his views on them.

+ Deo Omnis Gloria also looks at one of those issues (Ordination of Women) in Why Can’t Men Have Babies? Or Reality. The Pope has clearly said the Church cannot ordain women, so why do we still hear about it?

+ A Penitent Blogger muses on what the Start of the Workweek offers us. These days of sede vacante offer us a unique time to examine our lives in the light of the Gospel.

+ Veritas examines the negative comments about Pope John Paul II’s papacy in History: Let’s Make It Up!. This is an excellent response to those who are criticizing the papacy of JPII.

+ Crusader of Justice contrasts the positive and negative viewpoints concerning Pope John Paul II and talks about the potential change after this Conclave in Contrasting the Pope. The irony in some of these criticisms is very interesting.

+ And finally, we humbly submit Human Regret which offers advice to the younger generations on things you might regret if you aren’t careful. It’s an odd post, and intensely personal, but I hope you enjoy.

Thanks to all who participated once again. If I missed a post, just let me know (jay [[at]] livingcatholicism [[dot]] com) and I’ll get it added. If you’re interested in adding your posts to future Catholic Carnivals, just send me an email or post here and I’ll add you to the Call for Submissions I send out each Saturday morning. Also, if you’re a Catholic blogger please consider hosting a Carnival one week – it’s personally rewarding and not too much work.

God bless,
Jay
