The Catholic Carnival: Holiday edition
Many bloggers take a short hiatus around the holidays (understandably so) and so the Catholic Carnival only has a handful of posts this week. However, what it is lacking in quantity, the quality certainly makes up. In fact, this week features some of my favorite posts. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Notes gives us an excellent post in On the Holy Family. It’s a reflection on the practical realities of the Holy Family and how our lives relate.
At Ales Rarus, the post Senatus Populusque Americae? fisks a Boston Globe article The Politics of the Christmas Story by James Carroll. He’s a clear opponent of the War in Iraq, but sets Carroll straight concerning the birth of Christ.
Deo Omnis Gloria looks ahead to the New Year with practical advice on New Year’s Resolutions and Christianity. Why should Christians make resolutions? We’re all called to continually grow in our faith and resolutions are a good way to work on personal holiness.
Herb Ely asks Spiderman: Samaritan, Victim, or Passerby? It’s an interesting posts that points out the traditional Christian roles within the movie Spiderman II.
In a late addition, Times against Humanity (a blog you should check regularly) posts Christmas Around the Parish. It's a roundup of thoughts about Christmas from those in St. Blog's Parish.
Here, we also offer a reflection on The Feast of the Holy Family.
Next week’s Catholic Carnival will be held at The Cow Pi Journal. I’ll send out the Call for Submissions on Saturday (email me if you’d like to receive the Call for Submissions – jay [ at ] livingcatholicism [ dot ] com).
I hope all of you have a blessed Christmas season.
God bless,
Jay
