Gifts That Truly Give
So it is finally upon us, that last week or so of shopping for just the right gifts for our family members and friends. Although we have sincerely tried to limit our shopping this year, my wife and I have made a real effort to buy gifts for our friends and family that will truly benefit them. We wanted to give gifts that will help them to grow in their Catholic faith and in holiness.
About half of our close friends, as well as our extended family, are Catholic, so for some we give visible signs of the Faith for their homes like icons, statues, or crucifixes. Others are wanting to learn more about the Catholic faith or about keeping their families Catholic, so to those we give books. Great stocking stuffer ideas include scapulars, rosaries, miraculous medals, or Catholic CDs. To our non-Catholic friends and family we give books about Catholicism :-)
We know that our friends and family will truly benefit from such gifts since they encourage a greater emphasis on being genuinely Catholic.
So here is a list of ideas:
1) Icons - Icons are beautiful signs of faith that are rich in both Church history and tradition. They convey certain truths of the faith in a very unique way.
