Please Remember to Vote and to Pray for the Dead

Today is November 2, so please remember to vote. As our bishops have said, vote from a "well-formed conscience" i.e. a "conscience" rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church and faithful to the common good. The fundamental element of the common good is life, so as Catholics we must vote for those candidates that support life, that attempt to protect especially the unborn life, in both word and action. Being pro-life is not just another "issue," it is the pivotal issue, for without the right to life none of the other rights are applicable.

Our Founding Fathers understood this when they wrote in the Declaration of Independence:


We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

They first listed the right to life and also notice that they attribute this "unalienable right" to the Creator not the mother of the unborn child. The right to liberty and the right to the pursuit of happiness are completely dependent on one's right to life existing. The unborn child is equally entitled to those rights.

Also, on this All Souls day please remember to pray for the dead, especially your loved ones and those with no one else to pray for them.
