The First Catholic Carnival
We have an excellent set of posts for our First Catholic Carnival. Buckle your seatbelts, enjoy the ride - - Oh, and take a minute to read the entire posts, you’ll be glad you did.
On the Death of a Nun
At Notes, we learn about the life of Aunt Helen a nun who passed away on the 24th. Take a minute to enjoy the writer’s recollections.
On Contrition
This Sunday’s Gospel concerned Contrition and The Curt Jester shares his reflections on Contrition and our “garden of faults” that requires constant tending. It’s an excellent meditation on personal sin.
Ales Rarus also focuses on the Sunday Gospel in A Contrite Heart You Will Not Scorn by giving us a modern retelling. Think you don’t have “Pharisaic tendencies”? Read this post before answering.
On Reverence
On a similar topic, Quenta Narwenion offers us the reflections of Venerable John Henry Newman in From Parochial and Plain Sermons. Newman uses Sunday’s Gospel to discuss reverence in Church. A very insightful look that will have you examining your intentions.
On Being a Catholic Witness
Sometimes unexpectedly we are called upon to be a witness for God. At Santificarnos we learn the hard part might be hearing Him. Speaking from the Back Seat of a Taxi recounts the writers unexpected encounter with a “Catholic” taxi driver. This is a great story that we all can relate to on some level.
On Family
At HMS (Heart, Mind & Strength) Blog, Kevin Miller analyzes the Catholic understanding of Family. How can we understand the Family as part of God’s plan (the “domestic Church”) while agreeing that Jesus came to “divide” family members against one another? This post does a great job of explaining by utilizing the Catechism.
On Politics
Veritas analyzes John Kerry and the positive Catholic response Kerry received in St. John (Kerry). Is Kerry sincere about his Faith? Read this post for some analysis.
Finally, Deo Omnis Gloria fisks Senator Kerry’s “Faith Speech” in Kerry speaks on that which he does not know: Faith. It includes Kerry’s words and asks the question: what about the unborn?
Next week we’ll have our first themed Catholic Carnival on the Eucharist. In addition, it will be hosted by The Curt Jester. So we’ll be looking for Eucharist-related posts. I’ll send out the call for submissions this weekend – email me ( jay at livingcatholicism dot com) if you’d like to be added to the Catholic Carnival mailing lists or if you'd like to host a Catholic Carnival on your blog.
God bless,
Jay

This may seem cheesy, but seeing my idea come to fruition almost made me weepy. It's so exciting to see St. Blog's embracing "the new evangelization". :)

One of the great things about this Carnival is that tomorrow isn't Ash Wednesday, so we can continue to have these feasts.
Congratulations and thanks to you and FD.
